The Branford Road Race is this Sunday, capping off the Branford Festival, and there's still plenty of time to register for the 5-mile race.
Of course you can register online, but as an added bonus, if you register at SoundRUNNER, you get 10% off of your purchase.
You can also pick up your race packet at SoundRUNNER on June 14 and 15 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Even if you pick up your race packet somewhere else, just bring in your bib during race weekend to receive 20% off your purchase.
While discounts are offered, Amy Parker of SoundRUNNER advises against trying out new products on race day.
"With any new product--whether it's shoes, socks, clothes or even BodyGlide -- you want to give it a try on a couple runs before race day," said Parker, one of the coaches of the RunStart program.
RunStart began in March and is a program designed to train non-runners for a 5-mile run. The Branford Road Race is the "graduation" of the program.This season there are 15 participants.
"It's very exciting to see the progress," said Parker. "Some of them couldn't run for 60 seconds when we started and on Sunday, they'll run the Road Race."
