Powering Back Up: What’s Open in Branford Post Sandy

Today at 11 a.m., after the worst of Sandy has passed, about half of Branford residents are back on the grid. Share any info you can about what's open and what's going on.

According to the latest CL&P data at 11 a.m., 54 percent of Branford is still without power. Of the 16,294 customers, 8,838 are still without power (including this Patch editor!).

Around 11 a.m. power appeared to be back up at the West Rotary – we’re unsure what businesses are open at this time. Please share information about what is back up and open in the comments.

We spoke with Branford Police Captain Geoffrey Morgan this morning aroung 8 a.m. and he said overall, things were OK around town. The biggest caution he said is for residents to avoid sight-seeing and to treat every power line as if it was alive.
