A refuge for hikers, meanderers, bikers, runners, nature enthusiasts, historians and four-legged friends, the…More Branford Supply Pond sprawls over 350 acres.</p> <p>Purchased in 1969 from the Regional Water Authority with federal, state and local funding, Supply Pond was formerly the home to Branford Electric Company.</p> <p>The present-day property abuts the recently purchased Queach Preserve (over 150 acres); the Branford Park and Open Space Authority of Branford own both properties.</p> <p>There are trails for hiking during every season and, come spring, the pond is stocked with trout and more than 200 known species of birds can be spotted.</p> <p>Learn more about the Supply Pond by going there or stop by the James Blackstone Memorial Library to pick up a copy of "Supply Pond", which provides historical information.</p>

When Francis Walsh Intermediate School was built in 1972 — then called Branford Intermediate School — the…More facility was characterized by classrooms with no walls, emphasizing an open-space, community style of learning. Today, a number of classroom walls have been built, but the open-school feeling still exists.</p> <p>WIS is one of three schools in Branford offering a school-based health center, a fully licensed health clinic designed to address the physical and emotional needs of adolescents. Located near downtown Branford, Hammer Field & Skate Park offers irrigated open field space, two full-size…More baseball fields, one softball field, two backstops, lighted basketball courts, 20 micro soccer fields, a skate park and a grand stand, which is just over 90 years old, to view it all from.</p> <p>You can find the Branford Parks & Recreation Department adjacent to Hammer Field with the skate park located in the parking lot in a fenced-in facility.</p>

The Branford Public Works Department is headed by Art Baker, who started with the town in Jan. 2011 just a few weeks…More before the department moved from its location next to the town firehouse at 45 North Main Street to 137 North Branford Road.</p> <p>The department was moved because of the construction of the new firehouse and will be temporarily located at the new location.</p> <p>The Public Works Department maintains over 100 miles of roadway as well as drainage and rights of way. Snow and ice removal as well as maintenance of street signs, street signals and traffic lights are overseen by the department.</p> <p>Additionally, the department maintains sidewalks, open spaces and some seawalls.</p> <p>The town tree warden is also located in the Public Works facility.</p>
