John B. Sliney School is the stately looking building situated on the Branford Green. It was first opened in 1929 asMore Branford High School, and was later renamed in honor of  John Buckley Sliney, a longtime member of the Branford Board of Education, a first selectman and a native son. Principal Susan Iwanicki-Smith oversees the day-to-day for this elementary school.

First Selectman Anthony "Unk" DaRos got his nickname in second grade, and has been active in governing public affairsMore since his first term as first selectman in 1997. The Branford native has experience as an inventor, stone mason, firefighter, Eagle Scout and U.S. Navy veteran. Branford is governed by a three member administration, and DaRos serves with Selectman Francis Walsh and Selectman John E. Opie. The First Selectman's Office works in conjunction with Branford's Board of Finance and Representative Town Meeting to make decisions. The office meets the first and third Wednesday of every month.
