Branford Superintendent of Schools
1111 Main St, Branford, CT 06405

The 2010 school year brought a new face to the Branford school system: Hamlet Hernandez. The son of Cuban refugeeMore parents, Hernandez matriculated through Hamden schools and most recently held the title of Assistant Superintendent of Hamden Schools before being appointed to his current role of Branford's Superintendent of Schools. He was a lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Hernandez brings with him a dedication to all students, from those enrolled in early education in the Indian Neck School programs to the seniors graduating from Branford High School. Hernandez has an open ear and mind and sees the economic and racially diverse students of Branford as "more alike than different."

"We celebrate our kids," says Hernandez as he looks forward to his future with the school system.
