Located at Indian Neck School, the Branford Family Resource Center specializes in promoting integrated,…More community-based systems of family support and child development services.  The center offers early care and education and school-age child care programs, as well as adult education and family programs such as its families in training program that provides information and support for parents and strengthen their ability in their role as their child’s first and best teacher.</p> <p>Its Adult Education programs are primarily ESL classes and work in collaboration with the families in training component.  The center's parent educator works with the ESL teacher to provide developmentally appropriate activities for children while parents are participating in the ESL class.  Its family fun nights also provide educational learning activities for both parents and children.<br><br></p>

Run by the town's Director of Animal Control, Laura Selvaggio Burban, the shelter has 19 kennels, a critter room (featuring everything from bunnies to turtles) and a cat playroom for adopting families to peruse. There's an indoor behavior family room for prospective families to get acquainted with potential pets as well as an outdoor fenced-in yard for dogs to show off their ball-fetching skills.</p> <p>Adoptions are by donation and animals come spayed or neutered. All animals are vaccinated and given a wellness check-up; dogs are tested for heartworm and cats are tested for feline AIDS and leukaemia.</p> <p>The shelter, in conjunction with Branford Compassion Club, hosts an annual Animal Awareness Day on the Branford green, which usually features a doggie kissing booth. North Branford and Northford also use the Dan Cosgrove Animal Shelter and its services.</p> <p>There are 50 core volunteers who work to make the shelter a clean and welcoming environment for both adoptive families who visit and the animals who live there.</p>
