The Branford Public Works Department is headed by Art Baker, who started with the town in Jan. 2011 just a few weeksMore before the department moved from its location next to the town firehouse at 45 North Main Street to 137 North Branford Road.

The department was moved because of the construction of the new firehouse and will be temporarily located at the new location.

The Public Works Department maintains over 100 miles of roadway as well as drainage and rights of way. Snow and ice removal as well as maintenance of street signs, street signals and traffic lights are overseen by the department.

Additionally, the department maintains sidewalks, open spaces and some seawalls.

The town tree warden is also located in the Public Works facility.

Branford Building Official Anthony B. Cinicola advises the community to "think permits."

"The department'sMore main function," says Cinicola, "is to serve the public and make sure work being performed meets the Connecticut state building code requirements."

The department is responsible for the issuance of all residential and commercial  building permits within the town. You can stop by the building office in town hall during weekdays to obtain more information. 

Branford Information Technology Department

Branford's Information Technology Department, headed by Peter R. Hugret, is responsible for all computers, dataMore networks, servers, printers, computer software/data (including all Geographic Information System data), the town's website, copiers, telephones and fax machines for all departments except those associated with the Board of Education.

As stated on the town's website, the mission of the department is: "To serve the citizens and town employees of Branford by providing maximum authorized access to town owned technologies and services to promote operational efficiencies, public access to information and internet access to municipal services."

Simply said, this department works hard to ensure that most town services are made available online and just a click away for residents.
