Tisko serves kids with life threatening food allergies in the classroom!! Our son Brings lunchRead More everyday, he can't eat their food which is fine with me, but sending him home with a bag of Hershey kisses on the bus when he has an allergy that causes anaphylaxis is life threatening!! They just claim ignorance and that's all folks!! So BOE denies a meeting, school fails to act just like BOE! So he's been withdrawn!! Great job Tisko!!

This is irresponsible and Branford needs to be setting the ground rules for what is environmentallyRead More acceptable in our community, NOT Chartwells. These chemicals, from manufacture through disposal are choking the planet. Article states "the trays are meant to be recyclable, but the schools have not been provided with a system with which to recycle the trays." Typical corporate tactic from Chartwells.

Having worked in the EPS business for many years, I'm wondering if these trays are really Styrofoam.Read More Styrofoam is a tradename of an extruded polystyrene product made by Dow Chemical often mis-used as a generic term (like Kleenex vs facial tissue). I'm betting they are some form of FOOD GRADE polystrene (like that used to package meat in supermarkets). The bigger issue is the recycling program. Our trash collector takes plastics with recycling numbers 1-7. What number is on these trays??????

I think the #1 tip should be - make it fun!! The more fun your child has with books, the more theyRead More will want to read. I highly recommend Mo Willem’s books that are so silly you want to read more and more of them, and rhyming books like Dr. Seuss. There are also books on cd. You can listen to a story in the car, while making supper or folding laundry. They are lots of fun too with background music, different voices and songs. Be sure to check out "Skippyjon Jones", "Puff the Magic Dragon" or "I’m a Manatee" that you can sing together while you read along in the book. Take a trip to your local library and find fun books that interest your child's curious mind.
