Short Beach Hook Hose & Ladder Company 4

<p>This fire station is located in Short Beach and is an all-volunteer outfit. Captain Eric Wagner leads his team of 22 firefighters.</p> <p>The company was organized in 1911, just a few years after the main fire department in town was formed. According to the Branford Fire Department website, "the town of Branford supplied several lengths of fire hose and a nozzle, which were kept in Edward Knowles grocery store. A chapel bell would be rung to alert the volunteers when there was a fire."</p>
