Since 1964, the Branford Fire Department has been located on North Main Street. Branford's fire history stretches back into the late 1800's with bucket brigades but in 1901 the town officially purchased land on Hillside Avenue to erect a fire station. With 35 career firefighters and 100 volunteers today, the fire department is busy around the clock helping the community and ensuring the safety of all with Branford resident, Chief Jack Ahern in charge.
