Week Ahead in Branford: Free Concert & 'Play 4 The Cure'

Here's a quick look at some happenings in town this week, October 14-18.

Monday, October 14

Happy Columbus Day! State and federal offices as well as schools are closed today. 

There is a flu clinic being sponsored by the VNA Community Healthcare held at St. Theresa's Church, 105 Leetes Island Road today. It starts at 9:30am. All vaccines are administered by licensed and experienced nurses. Most healthcare plans are accepted. 

Tuesday, October 15

Please join the BHS Volleyball Team as they hold their Annual "Play 4 The Cure" Pink Game.  JV starts at 5pm and Varsity at 6pm at Branford High School.  Join the girls as they take on Sacred Heart Academy. There will be a 50/50 raffle and lots of Pink treats at the concession stand.  All proceeds received go directly to the National Foundation for Cancer Research. 

The Board of Police Commissioners meets at 5:30pm at the Police Department.

The Zoning Board of Appeals meets tonight at 7pm at the Canoe Brook Senior Center, 11 Cherry Hill Road.

Wednesday, October 16

There's an Oktoberfest Fun Run to Benefit Autism at 4pm at SoundRunner, 1088 Main Street.

The Board of Selectmen meet tonight at 6pm at the Fire Headquarters at 45 North Main Street. 

The Board of Education meet tonight at 7pm in the faculty lounge at the Walsh Intermediate School, 185 Damascus Road.

Friday, October 18

The Musical Art Society announces its first free concert of the 2013-14 season at 7:30pm at the Blackstone Library Auditorium, featuring "Guitar & Flute" with Neal Fitzpatrick & Elaine Thoma.
