Tee Off or Cycle for a Good Cause and More Events in Branford This Week

Here are five things to know about the coming week in Branford. For a full list of stuff to do, look at the Patch calendar of events.

1. Tee Off or Cycle for a Good Cause: The Branford Rotary Benefit Golf Classic is Tuesday, May 15 at Pine Orchard Yacht & Country Club. The Vista Tour de Shore is a fundraising cycling event that benefits the Endowment Fund of Vista Vocational & Life Skills Center with the kickoff party (all are welcome) being held on Thursday, May 16 at Zane's. 

2. BHS Sports: The Branford Hornets continue their spring seasons with homes contests for baseball, golf, boys' lacrosse, girls' lacrosse, boys' tennis, girls' tennis, softball and boys' track. For their full schedule, check out the CIAC's website. In addition on Monday, May 13, Guilford vs Branford softball game fundraiser for breast cancer. 

3. Branford Town Meetings: This week, meetings include the Regional Water District (Finance Committee), Police Commission and RTM Administrative Services Committee on Monday, May 13; Human Services Board, Shellfish Commission, WPCA and RTM on Tuesday, May 14; Economic Development Commission, Board of Selectmen, Board of Education and CT Metro-North Rail Commuter Council on Wednesday, May 15; and the Regional Water Authority committee meetings, Branford Historical Society Annual Dinner Meeting, Community Forest Commission, Regional Water District Representative Policy Board and Planning & Zoning Commission on Thursday, May 16.

4. Fun at the Blackstone Library:  The Classical Music in Classic Cartoons, scheduled for Tuesday, May 14, has been postponed until fall 2013. In addition, the library offers a full calendar of events with activities for all ages including story hours for children, knitting groups, yoga and more.

5. Looking Ahead: The Maple & Main Gallery Prelude To Summer Show opens on Friday, May 17; Dance-A-Thon with Kyle Dine! is Friday, May 17; the BRANFORD ART & CRAFT FAIR and the Plant and Gardening Goods Sale are Saturday, May 18; and Matt's Mission 5K is Sunday, May 19 and registration is underway.
