PHOTOS: BHS Hockey Hornets Play with Heart

Falling to the Trumbull Eagles, the Hornets lose the CIAC Division II State title with just about 30 seconds left to play.

The excitement was palpable as the Branford High School boys hockey team the Trumbull Eagles for the .

Friday started off great for the Hornets with Tyler Criscuolo putting the first point on the board during the first period. Branford’s Tyler Hackett sank the next puck during period two. Trumbull’s Mike Ahearn then answered with a goal bringing the score to 2-1.

Trumbull continued to put points on the board during period three with Strobel tying the game 2-2. The Trumbull Eagles pulled ahead 3-2, when Tim Riley scored. Branford’s Hackett tied the game 3-3 toward the end of period 3 but Trumbull pulled ahead when Strobel, followed by Ahearn, both scored.
