Mike Olt Will Dress For the Texas Rangers Tonight

Will you be rooting for the Texas Rangers now that Branford's Mike Olt has made the MLB rank?

An ESPN blog as well as the MLB website are reporting this morning that 's own will be moving up from the Texas Rangers’ Double A team to the major league as of Wednesday night. The report states that Olt will take the place of Brandon Snyder.

Olt, a 2007 graduate of , was drafted by the Texas Rangers in June 2010 from UCONN's baseball program. The university details that he was “a four-year letter winner at Branford High School… led his team to the Class L State Championship in 2006... holds the school hits record with 115... and holds a career batting average of .475..."

MLB.com ranks Olt as the No. 3 prospect in the Rangers' system and reports that he "was hitting .287 with 27 home runs and 81 RBIs in 94 games for Double-A Frisco." The story detials, "He had a .399 on-base percentage and a .575 slugging percentage along with 99 strikeouts in 348 at-bats."

The Texas Rangers report that Olt will be in uniform tonight when the team faces the Angels.
