Maggie Fitter takes first in ECAC 800-meter

The Branford High graduate continues her track success at Keene, taking first at the ECAC Championships.

Branford's Maggie Fitter raced to a first-place finish in the 800-meter race at the ECAC Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute's Ned Harkness Track & Field on Friday.

Fitter posted a winning time of 2:12.31. She is in contention to run the event at the NCAA Division III Championships next weekend at Claremont Mud Scripps College in California.

Fitter is a communications major at Keene State College in Keene, NH. She graduated in 2009 from Branford High School, where she played soccer and ran 400 and 800-meter races and relays on the track team.

Fitter's success this season has most recently included a first-place finish in the 800-meter at the New England Division III Championships on May 5, which placed her ninth in the nation.
