The regular season has ended for the teams at Branford High School, but play continues for several Hornets' squads.
Athletes who have posted state-qualifying finishes throughout the regular season will compete at the Class MM Outdoor Track Championship on Wednesday, May 29 at Middletown High School.
State championship information for golf will not be posted until Thursday, May 30.
The boys' lacrosse team finished 2013 with an 8-8 record for the 15th seed in Class L. The Hornets topped 18th-seeded Fitch 18-11 in the qualifying round to earn a trip to the first round where they'll face Joel Barlow, the No. 2 seed, on May 29.
The girls' lacrosse team finished with an identical 8-8 record, also taking the 15th seed. Branford squeaked out an 11-10 victory over 18th-seeded Joel Barlow in the qualifier. The Hornets now travel to second-seeded East Lyme on May 28.
The the 27th-seeded softball team plays 6th-seeded Berlin on May 28 and boys' tennis competes on June 1 at Conard High School.
The girls' tennis team lost to East Lyme to end its 2013 season. The baseball team fell just shy of qualifying for states with a 7-13 regular-season record.
