Branford Rotary & Y Family Run: Recorded Crowd Expected This Thanksgiving

This Thanksgiving morning more than 1,200 runners and walkers are expected to participate in the annual Branford Rotary Y Run and Walk. Will you be among them?

Proceeds raised through the road race will benefit the Branford Rotary Foundation and the Soundview FamilyYMCA.  

Event Details

This year's event features a 5K race and Kids Fun run. The 5K starts and finishes at Walsh Intermediate School in Branford. The flat, fast course goes past Young’s Pond and the Pine Orchard Golf Course.  

A course map, which can be downloaded and printed out for review, has been added to this post. 

After the race, participants are invited to a pre Thanksgiving Day meal with fruit and baked goods. 

Same day registration begins at 7:30 a.m.

Soundview Family YMCA

The Soundview Family YMCA services the towns of Branford, North Branford, East Haven, Guilford, and Madison.  

With over 8,000 members, the family-oriented facility benefits the shoreline community with programs for all ages, from child care to senior activities.  

The new 38,000 square foot facility includes two large indoor swimming pools, state of the art exercise areas, computer rooms and a teen center. 

'Service Above Self'

The Rotary Club of Branford is a service organization of women and men representing a cross-section of local business and professional leaders, living and/or employed in Branford.  

Members work as volunteers on a variety of local and international projects to improve the quality of life in their home and world communities, all under the guiding theme and commitment to "Service Above Self."

Community Dining Room

The Branford Rotary and Soundview Family YMCA invite runners to assist in raising money for The Community Dining Room during this year’s Branford Rotary & Y Family Run and Walk. Any runner/walker who raises (or donates) $100 or more to The Community Dining Room will receive a complimentary entry into this year's race. 

In addition, the Branford Rotary and Soundview Family YMCA will be collecting non-perishable food items for the Community Dining Room during packet pick-up and on race morning. 

The Community Dining Room is a local, not-for-profit organization that provides 50,000 meals each year to families on the south central Connecticut shoreline.
