Numerous Branford High School Students Involved in ‘Prohibited Conduct’

Hernandez did not answer any questions to the packed room of media members this afternoon, but rather promptly appeared at 4 p.m. to distribute a press release, which read, “On or about February 17, 2011 numerous students who attend Branford High School were involved in prohibited conduct. Branford Public Schools worked with Branford Police Department to determine if any criminal activity had occurred. No arrest was made and Branford Public Schools will follow their published policies to determine the District’s response to this unfortunate incident.”

Hernandez would not take any questions and quickly left the room.

Around 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 17, Twitter started lighting up with students commenting about a “drug bust” at Branford High School. Branford Police responded to inquires explaining one student had brought prescription drugs to school and there was nothing to report.

Over the weekend parents contacted Branford Patch asking for answers, but there has not been any official reports until this afternoon, which still leaves most questioning the circumstances and “prohibited conduct.”
