Speed Networking

The Branford Chamber of Commerce is introducing a new event to the Shoreline community – Speed Networking! Much like “speed dating” it is about making initial contact with as many people as possible in a short period of time. The idea is that first impressions count, if you hit it off with someone and feel that you have things in common then you can meet up again later and take more time to build a relationship. This is a quick, focused opportunity to meet those who can propel your business. Speed networking helps professionals focus their networking efforts and accelerate the process of making new contacts

Speed-networking is FUN and EFFECTIVE.  Whether you are an introvert or extrovert, young in your career or experienced – you will enjoy meeting people in this type of format.

Half the participants stay seated, while the other half rotate in a sequential process to a new professional after each 4-5 minute exchange. During the encounter, participants will exchange business cards and share their professional descriptions, plans and goals. After all participants have had the opportunity to make the rounds, an informal  networking session will take place where you can take time to meet again with people that you felt would be a beneficial business contact.

  • Bring your elevator pitch & business cards
  • Listen, listen, listen  There is no time for selling. Simply have a conversation and learn about each new connection - who they are, what they do.
  • Follow Up is the key.  Speed-networking delivers high volume and quality connections, but you must follow up and begin to cultivate the relationships. The initial interaction is only the starting point for each of your new potential relationships.
