Joe Higgins to Speak About Sept. 11 and His Post with the FDNY

On Wednesday, September 14 at 7 p.m. in Parish Center, guest speaker and parishioner , will speak about his experience during Sept. 11, 2001, when he worked in New York for the city fire department. Higgins, now a Branford resident, is the retired Deputy Director of Communications for NYFD and he'll share his experience living through the horrific events of Sept. 11.

Higgins was a liaison to the FDNY Commissioner as well as the top adviser in the communications division. On the morning of the attacks of Sept. 11, Higgins oversaw many of the thousands of alerts and dispatches sent from emergency operators.

Higgins also served as a training  instructor at the FDNY training academy and developed communications curriculum for FDNY captains and battalion chiefs, along with theirs aides.
