Building Bridges... Taking Tech Home

Branford, CT – 05/01/12 - As part of the Branford School’s “Innovation through Investment” focus, a district wide technology expo called Building Bridges...Taking Tech Home will be held on Wednesday May 23rd from 5pm - 8pm at Francis Walsh Intermediate School.

The event is aimed at building connections between the technology used in our school system and the technology used at home. The expo will not only offer education in the areas of school technology, but also demonstrate future technologies for teaching and learning.

The evening will include volunteer run demos, providing opportunities to engage in hands-on activities, local educational technology speakers, vendor opportunities, food, and giveaways.

Clint Kennedy, CTO for Branford Public Schools, says; ”the Branford Board of Education asked that we help to educate the entire Branford community.  Our two main goals are to showcase the current technologies the taxpayers have supported to date, as well as, share and discuss some of the technologies that can and should be part of the learning experience for our children in the future.”

Approaching learning in a tailored manner, providing online learning opportunities for students, and providing teachers and students with modern tools and the appropriate technical infrastructure will produce accelerated student achievement and align with the U.S. Department of Education’s plan, according to Secretary of Education Arne Duncan to “transform American education through technology.”
