Branford Land Trust Lecture Series: The State of the Sound

Curt Johnson, Senior Attorney and Program Director, Connecticut Fund for the Environment/Save the Sound

Curt will discuss The State of the Sound report, the first of its kind, which grades the quality of Long Island Sound based on eight indicators — coastal habitat, beach litter, migratory habitat, low oxygen (hypoxia), raw sewage, stormwater runoff, toxic chemicals, and stewardship. Overall, the report gave an average grade of a C+ for Connecticut and New York efforts to protect and preserve Long Island Sound.  In addition, Curt will cross reference the organizational vision of Save the Sound and the collective vision of Sound Vision.

Save the Sound  - A program of Connecticut Fund for the Environment, is dedicated to the restoration, protection, and appreciation of the Long Island Sound region through advocacy, education and research
