Branford's Maggie Fitter was one of 10 NCAA All-American athletes who attended breakfast with Keene State's president recently.

The following is a press release from Keene State College

You might call it an All-American breakfast. Keene State’s 10 NCAA All-American athletes from track and swimming attended a breakfast with Interim President Jay Kahn, Vice-President for Student Affairs Andrew Robinson and Athletic Director John Ratliff Friday morning in the Hale Building.

Three All-Americans from the Keene State Indoor track team attended the event; senior Janel Haggerty (Guilford), who won the national championship in the pentathlon, senior Maggie Fitter (Branford), who placed fourth in the 800 and junior Ryan Widzgowski (Camden, Maine), who finished second in the mile race at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships. The trio was accompanied by their coach Peter Thomas and assistant Cyrstal Blamy.

President Kahn initiated a very interesting conversation with the athletes about what it takes to be a successful student-athlete at Keene State and what it means to represent Keene State at the NCAA championships.

“It was a very nice gesture by the President that the athletes really appreciated,” said Thomas. “I think they all felt honored.”

“It’s something that has never happened in the past,” said Fitter. “Bringing us altogether was special.”
