Branford Coalition Receives $320,000 Award to Combat Underage Drinking

Public forum to open March 1.

The Branford Coalition to Prevent Underage Drinking has been in
existence since 2001. During that time, it has been funded by various federal
and state grants. In January 2010, The Coalition received a grant in the amount
of $320,000 from the Partnership for Success. This grant is funded by the
federal Government through the State of Connecticut and will function until June
2014.

The Coalition has been thoroughly committed to addressing the critical
issue of underage drinking. A genuine spirit of cooperation has been developed
with owners of liquor stores and restaurants. Local merchants have embraced
the Coalitions mission, “Believing in the Future of our Kids”. The fulfillment of this
mission has been be greatly strengthen by the assistance of the .

The Coalition has made a concerted effort to deliver an informed message
to the parents of Branford. Parental assistance in pursue of this endeavor is vital
to underscoring the idea that underage drinking can destroy lives.

We therefore cordially invite you to attend a concerning the
issue of underage drinking in Branford. This forum will be held on March 1
at the Branford Community House. The event will begin at 7 p.m. and will be
hosted by Chris Velardi, WTNH News Channel 8 Anchor.
