A Say in the School Budget? What Would You Like To See?

Frank Carrano solicits priorities for FY 2013 school budget from board members.

With visions of the forthcoming budget season apparently firm in his head,  Frank Carrano, who chairs the , asked the BOE members this week to spend some time thinking about goals for the FY 2013 budget which, he noted, he wanted to address at the November BOE meeting.

He said he wanted to develop the budget based on very specific goals that the members set as a board.

He noted that the concept of all-day kindergarten was once a part of the BOE’s budget document.

Carrano said he was, once again, asking the board to consider its priorities.  He said such forethought also gives the board strong arguments concerning the issues it identifies as priorities as the budget request moves from the BOE to the Board of Finance.
