UPDATE: What to Know Before FEMA Arrives

To file a claim and get life back to normal post-Irene, here's what you should know.

Though Branford was hopeful that FEMA Community Relations would be setting up shop in town as soon as this week, it's looking like the closest location for residents in at the time being. The First Selectman's office stated they are working to get a center set-up closer to Branford. Madison is the farthest town from the North Haven location.

FEMA has been in the state since Thursday at . Businesses owners, though not eligible for FEMA assistance, can find out information about Small Business Administration loan programs at the DRC.

Victims of Irene may apply for FEMA assistance now through Nov. 3, 2011 and can do so online at www.disasterassistance.gov or by calling 1-800-621-FEMA. Please see the attached PDF for information regarding what you’ll need when you file a claim. Basic information is also posted below.
