Tax Dispute in Branford Heads to Court
Islamic school believes it shouldn't pay taxes.
A tax dispute between the town of Branford and the founders of the Shoreline Islamic Academy is heading to court, the New Haven Register reports.
At the heart of the matter is the Islamic school claims it is unjustly being taxed by the town. The property is located at 56 Stony Creek Road.
The owners, Tariq and Kamran Farid claim the property is being used for educational and religious purposes, while the town believes the property is worth in excess of $1.2 million and should be taxed, the Register’s Evan Lips reports.
