Republican Ray Ingraham To Drop Out Of Branford Selectman Race

The member of the Representative Town Meeting announced he will drop out of the increasingly-convoluted race for Branford Board of Selectmen.

In a contest that seems to change every time the sun rises, Republican Town Chairman Ray Ingraham announced this week that he will no longer seek the position of second selectman.

Earlier this week, Republican Kurt Schwanfelder, 59, announced he was running for First Selectman. He joins a crowded pool, which includes fellow Republican Jamie Cosgrove, Democrats Andrew Campbell and Chris Sullivan and Independent Jacey Wyatt. All are seeking to replace First Selectman Anthony "Unk" DaRos, who announced in May that he would not seek another term.

Ingraham originally announced he was planning to run for second selectman, essentially serving as the running mate of Cosgrove. However, this week he announced he was dropping out of the race, according to the New Haven Register.

Instead, Ingraham said he will seek re-election on the board he already serves on, the Representative Town Meeting, according to the New Haven Register. He said that's where he can "make the greatest impact for Branford and the Republican Party," according to the Register.

“I look forward to bringing forth a quality team to take on the task of making Branford the best place on Connecticut’s shoreline to work and live for years to come,” Ingraham said, according to the New Haven Register.
