At the August 20 meeting of the Republican Town Committee, chaired by , Branford’s recently retired was nominated for an appointment to the Board of Police Commissioners with a three-year term to expire, Jan. 30, 2015. If the nomination is accepted by the Board of Selectmen and the Representative Town Meeting, Hugret will replace on the Commission; Schwanfelder has been appointed to the to fill a vacancy created by the departure of
Richard Balzano, owner of and coach of Branford American Legion Baseball was also nominated as an appointment to replace Garrett Sheehan on with a three-year term to expire July 31, 2015.
Ingraham expects the Board of Selectmen to hear these nominations at the Sept. 5 meeting, (6 p.m. at the ) but the agenda has not yet been posted by the BOS.
Of the nominations, Igraham said Peter Hugret is a "person that has served the town extremely well in all capacities from RTM member to our Information Technology director." He added, "Peter is uniquely qualified for this position with coming on line in the near future and his keen eye on budgetary matters."
"Richard Balzano," Ingraham said, "is a local business owner that has focused not only in growing his business in town, but has taken the time to give back to the community through youth sports." He added, "He now wants to be involved to take Branford to the next phase of what is right for Branford on the development front."
