Mezzo, Local Mayors Talk Federal Budget With Rep. DeLauro

The proposed federal budget and its potential impact on Connecticut municipalities was the main item on the menu today when Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro, D-3, met with local leaders at 91 Diner in New Haven.

With a financial forecast that was as dreary as today's weather, a central concern that DeLauro shared with mayors and first selectmen was how proposed cuts to critical programs - including Community Development Block Grant and the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) - could affect communities.

"They [mayors and first selectmen] always have to do more with less," Delauro said. "But we're talking about a whole lot less."
