Branford Patch: When you’re not sitting in committee and full meetings, what are you doing? i.e. work and fun?
Peter A. Banca: I have enjoyed a career in banking and finance for 41 years. My fun time includes boating in summer, photography, art appreciation, enjoying our dog, and sharing life with the greatest wife a man could have.

Branford Patch: How many years have you been a sitting member of Branford politics?  
Peter A. Banca: I have been in Branford politics continuously for almost 40 years, including the Conservation Commission, RTM, Flood and Erosion Control Board, Sewer Authority, and Democratic Town Committee.

Branford Patch: How long have you been actively engaged in politics in general?
Peter A. Banca: I have been engaged in politics in general for 50 years, volunteering when I was in school.

Branford Patch: What’s your 10-second elevator pitch for getting elected?
Peter A. Banca: Keeping the cost of governmental services affordable to all so that Branford will be a town where people can raise a family.

Branford Patch: What’s one thing right about Branford politics?
Peter A. Banca: The right thing about Branford politics is the openness of our form of government that allows direct citizen participation.

Branford Patch: What’s one thing you’d like to see changed? 
Peter A. Banca: The one thing I would like to see changed is the reimbursement formula used by the state which presently penalizes towns like Branford that have governmental efficiency.

Branford Patch: Regardless of your party affiliation, can you name one good thing about the current First Selectman Anthony “Unk” DaRos and one good thing about his challenger, Joy McConnell?
Peter A. Banca: One good thing about Unk DaRos is that his honesty and integrity are constant in his administration, as it was when he was a businessman. Joy McConnell is a small business owner.

Branford Patch: What has been the most exciting national and local elections you have every voted in?
Peter A. Banca: Most exciting national election was in 1972 because it was my first vote for President. My most exciting local electon was in 1975 when I ran for RTM and had the privilege of being on the ballot with John Sliney for First Selectman.

Branford Patch: What’s one piece of advice you would give apathetic voters about the importance of casting his or her ballot?
Peter A. Banca: Apathetic voters have this one chance every two years to express themselves at the ballot box.  Express yourself with those who vote regularly.

Branford Patch: What’s the one thing that you like best about Branford?
Peter A. Banca: The thing I like best about Branford is the spirit of the community that was apparent during the aftermath of the hurricane.

Branford Patch: Why did you decide to for re-election?
Peter A. Banca: I decided to run for re-election because I wanted continuity on the DaRos team with affordable open government.
