Meet the Candidates: Frank Twohill for First District RTM

Incumbent RTM member hopes to keep his seat in town after serving for 20 years.

Name: Frank Twohill
Age:  54
Years of residence in Branford: Life-long Branford resident.
Party affiliation: Republican
Position running for: Incumbent Representative Town Meeting Member, (R.T.M.,) 1st District.

Branford Patch: When you’re not sitting in committee and full meetings, what are you doing? i.e. work and fun?

Frank Twohill: Self-employed private practice lawyer; travel, hiking, taking cruises, politics, photography, radio and television productions.

Branford Patch: How many years have you been a sitting member of Branford politics?
Frank Twohill: RTM Member: 20 years.

Branford Patch: How long have you been actively engaged in politics in general?
Frank Twohill: 22.

Branford Patch: What was your first foray into politics?
Frank Twohill: The Board of Selectmen appointed me to the Town Conservation & Environment Commission.  At my very first meeting, I was elected Chairman of the Commission.

Branford Patch: What’s your 10-second elevator pitch for getting elected?
Frank Twohill: I am honored to represent the First District residents on the Branford RTM.  I vote to spend your taxes like it's my own – as frugal as possible.

Branford Patch: What’s one thing right about Branford politics?
Frank Twohill: One thing right with Branford politics is the ample number of volunteers to sit on the RTM each year.

Branford Patch: What’s one thing you’d like to see changed?
Frank Twohill: One thing wrong with Branford politics is that recently the tone of some invoilved has changed to rudeness, condecension and closed mindedness.

Branford Patch: Regardless of your party affiliation, can you name one good thing about the current First Selectman Anthony “Unk” DaRos and one good thing about his challenger, Joy McConnell?
Frank Twohill: Good thing about "Unk" is that he knows the Town well; good thing about Joy is that she will bring a fresh examination to improve all Town services.

Branford Patch: What has been the most exciting national election you have every voted in? Local?
Frank Twohill: The most exciting national election that I voted in was the Bush-Gore Presidential ballot because it was a virtual tie.  The most exciting local election I voted in was when Judy Gott beat Peter Ablondi for First Selectman.

Branford Patch: What’s one piece of advice you would give apathetic voters about the importance of casting his or her ballot?
Frank Twohill: Do not be apathetic.  Get involved in your democracy.  Yourinfluence is great, use it!

Branford Patch: What’s the one thing that you like best about Branford?
Frank Twohill: What I like best about Branford is the splendid geography within our borders, from islands to ridges and our beautiful and vibrant Town Center.

Branford Patch: Why did you decide to run for re-election?
Frank Twohill: 
I'm running for re-election because I genuinely like to be involved in helping to conduct Branford's business and I like working with the people involved in both political parties.

rather harsh and does not mention Congress or that fact that any CEO expects their chain of commandRead More to do the job assigned. The events of the last few years, the endless wars, homeland terrorism etc. Not an easy time for any Commander -in Chief. When an article simply slams and does not balance with positive accomplishments, it is hard to see the readers point of view
