Branford Patch: When you’re not sitting in committee and full meetings, what are you doing? i.e. work and fun? 
David A. Squires: I am a professor in Educational Leadership (people who want to be certified as principals and superintendents of schools) at Southern Connecticut State University.  Besides school board and work, I am active in the First Congregational Church and go to the gym. 

Branford Patch: How many years have you been a sitting member of Branford politics? 
David A. Squires: I have been on the school board for the last six years.

Branford Patch: How long have you been actively engaged in politics in general? 
David A. Squires: The Board of Education is my first political position.

Branford Patch: What’s your 10-second elevator pitch for getting elected? 
David A. Squires: I think it is important for a board member to fairly represent the students of Branford, the parents of the students and Branford taxpayers.

Branford Patch: What’s one thing right about Branford politics? 
David A. Squires: I like the fact that we have a superior bond rating. 

Branford Patch: What’s one thing you’d like to see changed? 
David A. Squires: I’d like to see the town committees work more closely together.

Branford Patch: Regardless of your party affiliation, can you name one good thing about the current First Selectman Anthony “Unk” DaRos and one good thing about his challenger, Joy McConnell? 
David A. Squires: Unk has governed well, especially through the storm.  I don’t know Joy McConnell

Branford Patch: What’s one piece of advice you would give apathetic voters about the importance of casting his or her ballot? 
David A. Squires: Casting your ballot puts you on record as having taken a positive stand. 

Branford Patch: What’s the one thing that you like best about Branford?
David A. Squires:  I like the small town atmosphere so close to New York City.

Branford Patch: Why did you decide to for re-election? 
David A. Squires: I enjoy giving back to the community by being Vice Chair on the Board of Education.
