Job Alert: Crossing Guard and Senior Center Office Assistant Needed

The Town of Branford has two job openings. Here's all you need to know.

The files of all qualified candidates will be maintained for a minimum of six months from the announcement date, and the qualified candidates will be considered for the same or similar positions which may become available during this timeframe.

All candidates not employed by the Town of Branford, prior to employment, must successfully pass a post-offer medical examination, which includes a substance abuse test given at the Town's expense.

The Town of Branford has implemented a policy of comprehensive background investigations for management/professional positions to be completed prior to hiring as part of the reference checking procedures for candidates not already employed by the Town.  The investigation will be conducted as the last step prior to an offer.  Refusal to sign the release form will terminate the candidate from further consideration.

Part Time Energy - Office Assistant– Branford Senior Center

 Salary $15.30 per hour 19.5 hours a week. Applications will be accepted until Feb. 22, 2013. Position contingent on funding. 

Essential Functions: Assists in providing energy and social services intake to Branford residents and provides general office support as needed.
 
Qualification Requirements: Knowledge of local, State, and Federal energy assistant programs and previous intake experience. The ability to assess client needs and communicate program guidelines and documentation requirements to the public. A knowledge of CEAP, CHAP, EHHAP, LIHEAP, Operation fuel programs, utility matching payment plans, furnace rebate and weatherization programs. Strong computer and office skills

Part-Time Crossing Guard, Department of Police Services

Flexible hours, Applications will be accepted until Position is filled 

Essential Functions: School Crossing Guard. Stop traffic to allow children and pedestrians to cross busy street intersections. Uniforms and training provided. 

Qualification Requirements: Must be able to work a flexible schedule weekly. The ability to follow oral and written instructions, the ability to deal effectively and courteously with associates and the general public and  to follow safety and security guidelines and policies. Be on time and dependable. Maintain an awareness of present or potential traffic hazards in the area surrounding assigned crossings. High School Graduate or GED equivalent. A combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge and experience to perform the work.
