Election 2012: Branford Results, Democrats Win Across the Board

Murphy wins Branford, state; Reed re-elected over Nicholson; DeLauro over Winsley, Meyer inches past Cartier and Obama re-elected according to local voters.

Democrat presidential incumbent Barack Obama wins Branford 8,301 to 5,817 against Republican candidate Mitt Romney. Obama has won re-election. 

Branford voter turnout was at 77.6 on election night out of the 18,330 listed voters – slightly more than 2008's Presidential Election, according to final totals. 77.53 percent of Branford voted in 2008.

Senator Chris Murphy-D won Branford over challenger Linda McMahon-R who conceded tonight. Incumbent candidate Lonnie Reed-D will keep her seat in the 102nd District over first-time candidate Lori Nicholson. Pat Widlitz-D, representing the 98th District went uncontested and Rosa DeLauro-D will keep her seat in Congress over challenger Wayne Winsley.

This election, Obama loss more than 700 votes in Branford compared to the 2008 election when he won 9,062 votes over Republican candidate John McCain. Romney took 5,817 votes in 2012 compared to 5,906 for McCain in 2008.
