Effective Immediately: No Trash Collections from Overweight, Oversized Bins

Branford officials are advising residents the town's refuse hauler will no longer be collecting trash from oversize or overweight containers.

The following is a press release from the Branford Solid Waste and Recycling Department.

A longstanding rule and regulation is now being enforced by the hauling company due to some significant personnel injuries while lifting overweight containers, effective immediately.

The Town’s refuse hauler will no longer be collecting trash from oversize or overweight containers.

Acceptable containers must be less than 45 gallons in size, weigh less than 50 pounds and have handles.

Any trash in non-conforming containers will not be collected from this point forward.

If you cannot purchase a new regulation sized container before your next collection day, we remind you that your trash can be put next to the road in bags.

The Transfer Station is open Monday thru Friday from 7:15 to 1:30 and on Saturday from 7:15 to 2:30 for any resident with a sticker to bring their trash directly.

Sorry for any inconvenience but we are working with the company to minimize any interruptions in service.

To avoid any delay in service we are asking for the residents cooperation and understanding.
