Branford Transfer Station Holiday Hours, Refuse Reminders

Effective Dec. 30, the town's refuse hauler will no longer collect trash from oversized or overweight containers.

The following is a press release from the Town of Branford.

The Transfer Station will be closed for Christmas, Wednesday, December 25th, and reopening on Thursday, December 26th. 

Wednesday and Thursdays curbside garbage and recycling collection will be delayed one day. (Please put your items out by midnighton your collection day)

The Transfer Station will also be closed on Saturday, December 28th in observance of the Holiday.

The Transfer Station will also be closed on Wednesday, January 1st, New Year’s Day, and reopening on Thursday, January 2nd.

Wednesday and Thursdays curbside garbage and recycling collection will be delayed one day. (Please put your items out by midnight on your collection day)

As a reminder, the Transfer Station is open Monday thru Friday from 7:15 to 1:30 and Saturday from 7:15 to 2:30 to accept trash and/or recycling from residents with a Branford residence sticker or trip pass.  

Leaf Collection

Leaf collection season ends the week of December 16 thru 20th. 

Trash Container Rules

The Town of Branford has begun enforcing the longstanding overweight/ oversized trash container rule. 

Effective December 30, 2013, the Town’s refuse hauler will no longer collect trash from oversized or overweight containers.  

Acceptable containers must be 50 gallons or less in size, weigh less than 50 pounds and have handles.  

Any trash in non-conforming containers will not be collected after December 30th.  

An orange sticker will be placed on your trash container indicating if it is non-compliant and needs to be replaced; please be on the lookout in the coming weeks for any such sticker.  

Your cooperation and understanding is greatly appreciated to ensure that there are no interruptions in service.
