Branford's Halloween Postponed Until Saturday, Nov. 10

Residents are asked to observe Halloween on Saturday, Nov. 10 due to the threat of a mid-week storm.

The First Selectman's Office has requested that Branford residents celebrate Halloween on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012 instead of Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012.

"Due to another storm anticipated on Wednesday and in response to concerns from parents, we are requesting that Branford residents celebrate Halloween on Saturday, November 10, 2012."

This morning, Branford Patch reader Sondra Suydam Baseggio asked via Branford Patch Facebook: "Is there anything that can be done to spearhead an effort to change the Trick or Treat night to Friday night, when the forecast is much more favorable?"

Thirty-seven likes, 31 comments and an e-mail to First Selectman Anthony "Unk" DaRos later, and Halloween has officially been moved. There's no way to know if Baseggio's plea or the many comments on Patch were the fuel for the move, but those in support of a weekend Halloween can now celebrate.

Originally trick-or-treating was moved from last week to Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012 due to Sandy.

In other Halloween news, today is the last day to enter Patch's Halloween Costume Contest for a chance to win $5,000. It's a national contest so unfortunately, no chances of getting it moved. However, you can submit photos from Halloweens past.

Happy trick-or-treating readers!
