UPDATE: Branford Fire Dept., USCG Assist 40-Foot Vessel on L.I. Sound

No injuries, and initial reports that the boat was taking on water were incorrect.

UPDATE: (2:00)

The Branford Fire Department, the United States Coast Guard and the Stony Creek Volunteer Fire Department responded to reports at about 1 p.m. that a boat had struck rocks near the Thimble Islands and was taking on water.

The 40-foot-vessel was damaged, but initial reports turned out to be incorrect -- the boat was not taking on water when it struck rocks while leaving Anchor Point, and no injuries were reported.
