Crime & Safety

String of Robberies Across Branford

Both homes and cars have been hit in the past several weeks.

Be sure to take extra precautions -- according to police, neither homes nor cars are safe in the string of robberies that have hit Branford in the past several weeks.

Captain Geoffrey Morgan says police aren't sure just which of the robberies are connected.

"It's tough to tell," he says. While most of the home robberies have occured in the center of town, car thefts have been reported in Short Beach, Branford Hills, East Main Street and Leetes Island Road.

"Only the people that commit the crimes know what they've stolen," Capt. Morgan told Patch. But jewelry has been reported stolen from homes, and GPSes, money and electronic devices have been taken from cars. A vacant home was also stripped of copper plumbing.
