One Man Caught in the Act of Allegedly Stealing Construction Supplies

Another man is later arrested in connection with the incident.

Branford Police Officer Philip Ramey interrupted an early morning burglary just before 1 a.m. this morning when he located a man loading construction supplies into a vehicle parked in a secluded portion of East Industrial Road while he was conducting proactive burglary patrols in the area.

Investigation by members of the department revealed that Michael D. Palmieri, 21, of 28 Flat Rock Road Branford, had taken the items from a nearby, fenced-in, building supply company.

Further investigation also determined that Mariusz Chrzanowski, 22, of 66 Glenmoore Drive, East Haven was also involved in the burglary and was later taken into custody by police.

Police Chief Kevin Halloran said overnight patrols have targeted commercial businesses as part of a crime prevention initiative to reduce the number of commercial burglaries and apprehend those who do commit the crime.

“Under the supervision of Lt. Michael Carasone, who is the midnight shift commander, our officers are very motivated to keep our business community safe during the nighttime hours. Their efforts have produced very productive outcomes.” said Chief Halloran.

Palmieri and Chrzanowski were charged with third-degree burglary, third-degree conspiracy to commit burglary, third-degree criminal tresspassing, and sixth-degree larceny. Palmieri was additionally charged with possession of burglary tools. Both men are scheduled to appear in New Haven Court on October 4.
