More Than $2,000 of Jewelry Stolen From Home

Branford Police arrest East Haven woman for the crime.

Branford Police were able to arrest , 30, of East Haven yesterday for allegedly stealing more than $2,000 worth of jewelry from a Branford resident’s trailer at 19 Leetes Island Road on June 11.

Branford Police Captain Geoffrey Morgan stated that Smith allegedly entered the victim’s trailer on June 11 and took watches, bracelets, earrings and other items. According to police, Smith knew the victim.

At the time of the incident, an alert neighbor was able to offer the police a description of Smith and the vehicle she was driving. Working with East Haven Police, Branford Police located Smith; she turned herself into the Branford Police station yesterday. Smith was ultimately charged with third-degree burglary and third-degree larceny. She is due in New Haven court date on Aug. 2.
