Hemlock Condo Residents Target of Theft

Unlocked cars in in the Hemlock condos area allegedly looted this morning.

Officers apprehended two people early this morning taking items from a large number of in the Foxbridge Village and Meadows condominium areas off of Hemlock Road.

Officers responded to the area at about 2 a.m. when an alert person in the area contacted police after seeing suspicious people going car to car.

Arriving officers apprehended Robert Barnabei, 18,  of 63 Myron Street New Haven and a male juvenile accomplice.

This incident occured just two weeks after Branford Police held a with condo residents of this area regarding crime.

Police also recovered many different items including electronic devices and personal items taken from unlocked cars in which many of the owners have yet to be identified.

Barnabei was charged with six counts of third degree burglary,  six counts of third degree conspiracy to commit burglary, fourth degree larceny, and third degree trespassing. He was released on a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in
New Haven court on May 31. The juvenile will be referred as well to New Haven Juvenile Court.

Police also utilized the Notification System to contact the residents in the area to notify them of the thefts.

Residents who want more information about the notification system can go the Branford Police website and follow the B-Informed link. There they will be able to tailor the information they would like to receive in the future and register different ways to be notified including cell phones, pagers and email addresses.
