Heavy Rain, Thunderstorms, Hail Possible Tonight

The National Weather Service warns of bad weather – including hail - along the shoreline and other parts of Connecticut.

After a morning thunderstorm, Branford and the shoreline could be in for a rough day. The National Weather Service warns that storms this afternoon and especially later tonight “could produce small hail, gusty winds, heavy rain, and frequent lightning.”

A hazardous weather alert says that a slow-moving cold front is moving through the area on Friday afternoon and early Saturday, which could more more “thunderstorms with very heavy rain and gusty winds.”

There’s a high of 83 degrees expected today, with a low of 63 at night. Rainfall could reach a quarter of an inch.

In nearby North Madison, the North Madison Volunteer Fire Co. responded to two calls Wednesday morning. Initial unconfirmed reports from two North Madison residents who spoke with emergency responders on the scene indicate that both calls may have been related to lightning strikes as a storm moved through the region.

A third call relating to North Madison came in around 8:41 a.m. about possible wires down near County Road and Lakewood Drive, also in North Madison.
