Police Warn of Recent Burglaries Targeting Indian Families

The burglaries have targeted Indian families in East Haven and other parts of Connecticut, as well as Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

UPDATE at 10:30 a.m. on SUNDAY

The following is a broadcast message from the East Haven Police department shared with local media by CT News Alert.

We have had several recent burglaries in town targeting Indian families, or people of Indian descent, especially those whose last names happen to be Patel.

We have also received word from other agencies in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire that they are experiencing similar crimes in their jurisdictions.

The suspects are typically breaking a rear window or sliding door to gain entry, and are taking expensive jewelry and cash, but have been leaving electronics undisturbed.

It appears this is a crew that is targeting these victims.

The suspects in these cases might be operating a white 4 door sedan bearing orange and blue New York registration plates.

Please be vigilant of your property as well as you neighbor's and call us with any information you have.
