UPDATE: CL&P Here; Branford Works its Way Back to Business

By no means are things back to normal but we're on the way.

Captain Geoffrey Morgan of the Branford Police Department said from the this morning that town officials have met with this morning and that crews are assessing damage and formulating power restoration initiatives.

There are six CL&P crews in town working today and Morgan said more will arrive as the week goes on. The main focus will be to restore power to Route 1 and Route 146 at this time. From there, Morgan stated, power will begin to be restored to residential areas.

Branford Fire Department was able to confirm that power was restored this afternoon to the upper part of Montowese Street near the Town Green. CL&P crews have come from as far as Colorado and Canada to restore Branford's power!

One hundred percent of Branford's more than 16,000 CL&P customers are currently without power.

In addition to working on power restoration, CL&P will be removing downed trees. Branford Public Works Department will then be clearing trees from roadways.

Do not assume wires are dead. If you see downed wires, do not go near them.

Do not walk or drive through flooded areas. Roads have been compromised and can be unstable.
