Branford Police: Woman Arrested for Attempted Kidnapping

Branford Police arrested the woman late Friday night after she allegedly threatened two travelers to give her a ride from the TA Travel Center, telling them she had a gun in her purse.

The following is a press release from the Branford Police Department.

Branford Police were able to locate and arrest a woman late Friday (12/27/13) evening after she threatened two travelers to give her a ride from the TA Travel Center on East Industrial Road.

Lieutenant Patrick O’Malley, the Department’s evening Shift Commander said that officers, including Officer Joseph Carangelo, Marc Andrew and Detective Patrick Moynihan responded just after 10:00 pm to a report of a woman threatening customers in the parking lot for a ride, saying that she had a gun in her purse.

Lt. O’Malley said that officers were able to get a “very good description” of the suspect from the victim and, by using the Travel Center’s video surveillance equipment,  were later able to locate the woman a short distance away in a rented room at Best Value Motel.

Officers arrested Dana Lucibella, (DOB 7/11/1978) of uncertain address, for Threatening in the 2nd degree, two counts of Breach of Peace, and Criminal Attempt to Commit Kidnapping with a Firearm in the 2nd degree.

Additionally Lucibella had outstanding arrest warrants for Violation of  Probation and Failure to Appear. 

Lucibella is currently being held on a $10,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in Court on 12/30/13.

Police were unable to recover the purported gun at the time of Lucibella’s arrest and said that neither of the victims were physically injured.
