The is adding two new officers to its ranks.
On Monday morning, Chief Kevin Halloran swore in Corrianne Dionne, 21, and Melissa Carney, 22. Beginning July 13, Dionne and Carney will attend Connecticut's Police Officer Standards and Training Councils for 22 weeks of training, then spend another 10 weeks training within the department.
“These two women represent the top two officer candidates that our agency has vetted out during the recruitment process," Chief Halloran said. "I know that they will serve our community and department well.”
The department began its recruitment drive in March, and Dionne and Carney were appointed at a special Board of Police Commissioners meeting June 20. The department is still seeking two more recruits to bring it to full staff.
