Branford Man Indicted for Alleged Armed Robbery of New Jersey CVS

Investigators say he threatened pharmacy employees in order to obtain oxycodone pills.

A New Jersey grand jury voted to indict Matthew R. Pagliaro, 25, of Branford Tuesday on charges that he used an airsoft gun to rob an Aberdeen pharmacy in August.

Police say Pagliaro, 25, went into CVS on South Atlantic Avenue at about 7:15 p.m. on Aug. 3 and approached the pharmacy counter. He allegedly passed a note to an employee saying that he was armed with a gun and was demanding oxycodone pills. Pagliaro then allegedly showed the employee the gun, which investigators later determined was an airsoft gun. He was given the pills and left the store.

Police were called to the scene and officers broadcast a description of the suspect's car over the radio. A volunteer firefighter noticed the Prius on Church Street. He notified police and the suspect was taken into custody.

Pagliara was committed to the Monmouth County Correctional Facility but was released Aug. 6 after posting $155,000 bail, .

Pagliara was indicted Tuesday on three counts, including first degree armed robbery, fourth degree unlawful possession of an imitation firearm and third degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance.

An indictment does not indicate a conviction, only that a jury decided there was enough evidence to proceed with a trial.
