Branford Man Charged With Robbing Convenience Store

Quick police response nabs alleged perpetrator who made off with $92 in cash.

A Briarwood Lane man was arrested late Sunday night and charged with third-degree robbery, sixth-degree larceny and engaging police in a pursuit after police said he stole money from an East Main Street convenience store.

According to a press release, the store clerk alerted police after the robbery and Branford police officer Rashaad Roach responded minutes later. Roach took a description of the vehicle the suspect had fled westbound in, and officers John Alves and Joseph Peterson stopped a car driven by Richard Rogers, 52, of 46 Briarwood Lane, just after 11 p.m. on North Main Street near Cedar Street.

The officers detained Rogers until he was positively identified by the store clerk, then arrested him. A subsequent search of the vehicle yielded $92 in cash in a plastic bag.

Rogers was held on a $5,000 bond and was arraigned in New Haven Superior Court Monday morning.

Our dining experience at Sea Grass was very poor. We were not greeted promptly, the service wasRead More slow, our drink order was wrong, salad stale, very small entrée portions, limited menu, and very overpriced. McDonalds is better.
